Problem

When the SolidWorks thumbnail/icon shell extension (sldwinshellextu.dll) is installed, the SmartFTP process hangs (not responding) when files with SolidWorks extension are displayed in the Transfer Queue.

Cause

The SolidWorks shell extension is broken.

Solution

1. Open File Explorer
2. Go to the C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Shared folder
3. Rename sldwinshellextu.dll to sldwinshellextu.disable.dll.

Alternative 1

1. Open regedit.exe
2. Delete the following registry keys:
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SldAssem.Document\shellex\IconHandler
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SldDraw.Document\shellex\IconHandler
   HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SldPart.Document\shellex\IconHandler

Alternative 2

Unregister shell extension:

1. Open a command prompt (cmd.exe) as Administrator
2. cd C:\Program Files\Common Files\SolidWorks Shared
3. regsvr32 /u sldwinshellextu.dll
