New Build Problems

I have used smart ftp for years and been very happy. I am a registered user. The new build will not upload the smallest and simplest of files that loaded correctly for years with the other builds. I am uploading simple graphics files. It constantly says file size mismatch, or cannot find source file. It is very aggravating. I have even tried to go back to an old build of the software - but it won't operate any more even after deinstalling the new one with Windows XP control panel.

How do I completely eradicate the new build from my system and go back to old reliable?

Here is the log file. I am transferring .gif files. Any help you can give will be very much appreciated as I am effectively getting shut down from my work.

Here you can see things like "transfer failed", "file size mismatch".

But when I use the old build of smart ftp on another computer - it uploads perfectly.

Hi,

The latest version of SmartFTP use file size checking at the end of a transfer to verify the transfer. This is why your new version of SmartFTP (which version?) returns an error where your old version (which version?) don't.

Try to download the file you just uploaded. Is this file the same you sent ? If yes, you can ignore the error.

I think the FTP server you are using have a cache. The first time you ask for a file size, it retrieve this information and same it to the cache. The next time, it doesn't retrieve the size from the file system but read the cache. SmartFTP can't do anything to avoid this behavour...

Dear Tech Support:

I need to know how to completely remove the new build of smart ftp from my system and go back to the old version.

I have tried the standard remove program within windows xp - but there are still items in the registry evidently.

I simply cannot use your product on our servers because of this caching problem with the server.

I like your product - the old one - and I've paid for it. I want to use it.

Your answer to this problem, (yes it is YOUR problem and not the user's), is unacceptable.

I upload files to a number of different servers, and cannot control things like caching. The global queue does NOT solve the problem. I have disabled upload integrity checking and files will still upload only occasionally. I have had some success deleting the current version of a file before uploading a newer version, but even this has not worked every time.

You have broken an otherwise very reliable product. When people tell you they were happy but are now unhappy, you should listen, not tell them they are just not doing it right.

Please send an email to the premium support email address and request the old build.

As a reminder for all users posting into this forum, please provide your license key number.
