want to transfer SmartFTP to new computer running Windows 7 64 bit, any advice on (a) how to do it & ( compatibility

SmartFTP is compatible with Windows 7.

To transfer the favorites, you can just copy the complete favorites folder: %appdata%\smartftp\client 2.0\Favorites from one computer to the other.
