This is by no means the first time this has happened to me: in fact, in the past I've had to give up and re-create things in order to get 'em onto the server.
Tired of that: I don't think half a meg is too big - although it's not something I'd do from choice, nor regularly.
Please please tell me why the upload speed simply gets slower and slower and eventually stops.
If there are rules regarding the size of upload items, I haven't sighted 'em anywhere. :-(
And also - why does my UI change every now and then? - now my Transfer Queue window's first line says "Copy", the dividing lines have gone, and I wish things would stay the same...

The reason your transfers time out is a network problem (firewall etc).

Post the system information from the menu: Help->About "System Information"

Regards,
Mat

Try activate mode:

If it doesn't work you need to fix the network problem you have.

I don't understand what you're telling me. It would appear you want me to change it from the 'automatic' mode; but you don't say whether it should be to active or to passive.

As well as that, you speak of my 'network' problem, but don't indicate what you mean. Everything else uploads perfectly well; it's only the largeish files that won't go, as I said earlier.

I am not clever with all this; my husband used to manage it all for us both. My life is hideous enough just to be without him, let alone with needing to try to interpret technical people who know what they're talking about but assume, wrongly, that I do, as well.

Please give me some more information...?

It would seem that my having attempted to follow your instructions has stuffed SmartFTP entirely. I did what I always have to do and re-created the .jpg - it is now 170kB.
I can no longer upload.
The transfer queue does nothing at all; there is no sign of activity.
Does this mean that SmartFTP will never work for me again?????

OK, it came back to life again. I have no idea why it died in the first place.
HOWEVER; the original problem as posted has not been solved, please note.
I still can't upload files larger than somewhere around 250kB.
I still can't understand what you're telling me in your last post.
I'd be REALLY happy to have both situations reversed...

TIA

Did you stop the transfer queue by mistake? If yes start it again by pressing on the little play button.

Then post the log from the file in the transfer queue. To get it double click the file.

Those are my problems, and nothing has changed regarding them. You've REALLY got me confused, Mat: I've done this log posting already, so can't imagine why you would need me to do it again.

If you will itemise, perhaps, what you see as the problem - well, maybe that would help me comprehend your latest instructions. At the moment you're just issuing them without any kind of explanation. And it's EXPLANATION that I need, more than anything...

Don't seek to be irritating, I promise; just want to get some feeling that I know what's going on...

thanks;

M-R

You have to change it to active mode (PORT) as described here:
https://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/how- ... de-f1.html

Then post the log again.

Also try to upload to a different server to see if you have the same problem.

Mat
