Sorting and Retry Cycle

I have a folder which will not complete a scheduled upload. It shows as sorting items and then goes to retry. It just cycles between these two states. the folder contains 9500 .mir files. The log shows the following:

[17:34:27] 257 "/Galileo" is current directory.
[17:34:27] MKD E Ticket Agent Coupons
[17:34:27] 550 Directory already exists
[17:34:36] Sorting 9500 items.
[17:36:28] 421 Connection timed out.
[17:36:28] Server closed connection
[17:37:18] Sort Time = 161s.

If I delete the directory on the FTP server, the client creates it but then goes into this cycle again without uploading anything.

Any help would be appreciated.
