Can't delete files

Hello,

This maynot be an FTP problem but I'm hoping you can help me anyway.
I would like to do a complete reinstall of the files in my website and can't delete them through the ftp.
Can't seem to change the permissions either...everything I upload just sits in the queue.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Can you please post the log of your FTP session?

It's very likely that you do not have sufficient permissions to delete the files. Did you already contact your webhosting provider regarding this issue?

I have opened a support ticket and made a phone call to our webhost provider - in Australia, they only provide support Monday to Friday and even then the level is poor...I am also in the process of changing providers.

Yep from the log I can see that the server doesn't let you delete the files from some reason:

[22:30:53] 550 Delete operation failed.

Did you try to change the permissions (CHMOD) of the /html/wp-admin folder? You can set it to 777 and then try again.

Just tried again to change the permissions and get a "550 SITE CHMOD command failed".

Mat you've been marvelous, I really appreciate you taking a look at it for me.

I'll just have to wait until the provider answers my support tickets - maybe Monday if I'm lucky...then I'll move this client to my regular provider in the U.S. who give service and support above and beyond what is required...just like you have done.

By the way, I think you have a terrific product in SmartFTP. I've been using it for my websites for a year or so...much appreciated that it was free for so long which gave me a chance to get used to it...and make it irreplaceable.
