Uploading

I have used SmartFTP for years now but have just downloaded the latest version6. All attempts at trying to upload files is not working either by drag&drop or by Commands and Upload. Having reviewed your Tutorials, in case there was a different system now being used I find that I still can not upload. According to your tutorial I should have a button at the bottom of the temporary queue window. There are no buttons. I have uploaded several screen shots, via another ftp programme for you to look at.

Please select the "Transfer Queue" window/pane at the bottom of SmartFTP. Then start the Transfer Queue if is not started yet.
If is started and the items do not process double click the first item to get the log.

Nothing is showing up in the Transfer Queue window/pane

You might be affected by the Windows Vista bug. To verify it please try the following:
- Open the command line (cmd.exe) with administrator privileges (very important). This is described here:

- Go to the SmartFTP program files folder: cd %ProgramFiles%\SmartFTP Client
- Type regsvr32.exe sfFavorites.dll
and
regsvr32.exe sfTransferQueue.dll
and
regsvr32.exe sfFTPShellExtension.dll

If regsvr32.exe throws an error you know you are affected by this problem.

You are affected by the same Windows Vista bug as here:

My recommendation is to install SP1 of Windows Vista. It may fix the problem. You can install it through windows update:

whoa. Just bought and dloaded new smartftp and have the same upload/dload issues - nothing gets dropped into queue either - drag and drop doesn't work.. I have sp1 installed already. I Do not want to mess around with my reg just to make a program run and screw up everything else - not that techie. All the previous versions of smartftp worked fine till this upgrade. What's the deal? Can you guys fix this on your end? Do you have previous versions avail for dload? Or do I just get a refund and buy something else?

It's a bug in Windows Vista only Microsoft can fix. But a fix for it has been provided.

You can install version 2.5 which is not affected by this problem.
1. Uninstall version 3.0 from the Control Panel -> Programs and Features
2. Install version 2.5 from: https://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/smar ... f2599.html
This is the version you have previously been using before the upgrade

The latest version of SmartFTP includes a workaround for the Windows Vista registry permission problem:

It is important to note that this problem has not been caused by SmartFTP and existed before you installed SmartFTP.
