Uploads not being acknowledged

Since last week successful uploads are no longer being acknowledged and as a result every upload times out. Two different server softwares have been tried along with two different servers. Other programs do not do this.

A few things you can try:

1. Connect to the SmartFTP ftp server (ftp.smartftp.com login as anonymous) and download a file. Use Passive Mode.

2. Try another FTP client to see if you experience the same problems.

Not to be rude but it is clearly stated in the top post that this does not happen in other clients. This is the only way that I can upload files in bulk. If you want my opinion I think that it is miscalculate the file sizes so uploads do not get finished because it is waiting for more data. I'm probably wrong!

Do you have the problem with uploads only? Did you try to increase the timeout from 60s to 120s?
Do you have the problems with any FTP server or just one in particular?
Please post the log from the other FTP client which shows a successful upload in PASV mode.

Did you addd SmartFTP to your software firewall's exceptions?
Did you try to disable the software firewall you use temporary?
Are you running the latest firmware on your NAT router?
Do you use any speed limits in SmartFTP? If yes disable them.

FWIW, I'm having the same problem for many months now. Older versions of SmartFTP didn't have this problem, so it's definitely a problem w/ the newer versions. It appears that SmartFTP isn't counting its own download as "activity", so it's timing out. One would think this is an easy fix.

So its not just me!

The problems reported here are related to the users configurations (software firewall, broken system configuration, buggy antivirus software, wrong network configuration, etc). Thread closed.

If you believe it's a bug please post a proper bug report which we are able to reproduce into the bug report forum.
