I would have also gladly such a function. flashfxp and cuteftppro can do it. filezilla will can it in version 3. why can't smartftp this?

Same here, this is something which everyone can use. I'm in the middle of setting up a new website and I do not have direct shell access. In this case, I need to chmod a directory and all subdirectories, doing it manually takes way too long.
I found myself using another client (yes, I'm bad) to do this, but I'd much prefer to use SmartFTP.
