I can't CHMOD

Hi, I'm trying to set up my Web site. Whenever I right-click on a file using SmartFTP and try to CHMOD the file, I get an error message saying: "500 'SITE CHMOD 700 bblog.css': command not understood" -- this happens regardless of the permissions I try to give the file (400, 757, etc.). Does anyone have a clue on what I need to do to be able to edit my files in SmartFTP? Thanks.

Hi, the server looks to be a windows machine, windows servers don't needs to use chmod (in fact, chmod don't works at all on windows servers if they are implemented).
