Hi, try updating to Internet Explorer 6.

Why?

I prefer to use 5.5.

An update to IE 6 replaces several system DLLs (which are not necessarily directly related to Internet browsing) that are used by SmartFTP. SmartFTP might require newer versions of those DLLs than the ones supplied with Win 98 SE.

Please list the DLL's it requires and advise how I can install them without installing IE6? Is it safe to just copy them into say the System folder, replacing older versions or will that break other parts of Windows?

Sorry, I don't know which DLLs there are in detail. After all, it's just a guess that this will fix your issue.

I backed up and installed IE6 but that made no difference, I've now restored and gone back to using IE5.5

Hi, try downloading https://www.smartftp.com/Products/SmartFTP/unicows.cab and overwrite the one on your SmartFTP directory.

There was nothing like that in the SmartFTP folder, instead I replaced the one (v1.1.3790.0) in the WindowsSystem folder with the one in the cab file and rebooted, but there was no change.

Please try it again with the latest version:

I've installed the latest version over the previous one and it's now working. Thanks.
