Hello all, I thought my first post should be something useful. I have been racking my brain going from ftp program to ftp program since my beloved smart ftp wouldn't start for me. I upgraded to 1.5 988 thinking nothing of it, just another update. No biggie. Boy was I wrong. For the last month, I have not been able to use it since (as the title says) it hangs during start up. Ace FTP has been my biggest help, but alas, it is NOT sftp. cute ftp ... horrible. Random ftp software that creates a "network drive" in My Computer ... hardly reliable. I thought the new 989 would solve my problems. Wrong again.
Well after searching the forums for a little while longer this time, taking some advice and logging in under the actual administrator account, removing program, reinstalling, she opened right up. So I thought I could go back to my user account now since the problem I was sure had been resolved ... wrong again.
Well long story short, after a simple search of my hard drive I found my C:Documents and Settings{you}Application DataSmartFTP folder. Deleted it, and sftp opened finally.
I'm so happy I could dance a jig. 8)
