Transfer Timeout

I'm getting the following error msg on a folder I know has 408 files of 37Mb in total. Is the "transfer timeout" setting a host controlled parameter or one in SmartFTP? If it's in Smart FTP somewhere, where is it? I've changed all the connection timeout settings without success...

Hi,

Can you send a full log, please? Do you use a firewall? Did you try to use passive mode and PORT mode? Do you have this problem with only one FTP server?

I don't get this problem with other FTP sites nor with other folders within this FTP site; only the htdocs folder. I'm behind a Cisco router but settings have never interfered with FTP before - also I have XP SP2 but I've tried with Windows Firewall both on and off and it makes no odds. If I change to passive mode I get the same problem. The following is a log of both attempts:

Hi,

The "transfer timeout" is the "Connection Timeout" of the "Connection" section in the Tools>Settings dialog box. But as you told, this seems to change nothing.

Your problem can be a server problem: it can try to retrieve the file list from this particular directory but an error occurs (maybe file system corruption or permission error) and the server don't handle this error correctly (it sends no data through the data connection and no error code through the control connection). You may try to contact the FTP owner.

But there can be a problem on your side... :-D
