Connection timeout. No response from server.

I am trying to access my webspace from my laptop over WiFi. I use the correct ftp name, username, password and port. I have tried connecting after disabling Windows Firewall, disabling script blocking from Norton Antivirus and I have run Adware. The Linksys wireless LAN box was replaced a couple months ago. Can someone help me. The following is the error message I receive.

Socket connected waiting for login sequence.
Connection timeout. No response from server.
Active Help Link: https://www.smartftp.com/support/kb/58
Cannot login waiting to retry (30s)...

Many thanks!
Louie

It could be many things, check to see if your useing a proxy if not the ftp might be down. Can you open up a browser IE or mozilla?

i have the same problem and it always happens when i try to upload alot of files at one time like some php script filse or alot of html files at once. this has been going on for a long time now. I thought i was a server problem but i know other people who are having the same problem. I think its a problem with smartftp cuz I tried FileZilla FTP client and it worked at first try with no problem. Also, the FTP loads really slow when i click on the program. I have a 3.4 Ghz with 1 GB of RAM and 10,000 RPM HD, so i dont think its my computer speed that is causing the problem. I am using a router.

right now i am using FileZilla but I just wanted to let the developers know about this.

you guys should try FileZilla if u are having problem uploading..well it got rid of my problems. http://sourceforge.net/projects/filezilla

Looks like it is the dreaded socks/ftp problem.

I dontk now anything about socks but i didnt encounter this problem with older version of smart ftp. someone told me that it could be due to windows sp2. it sucks it wont work right for me :-(
