Is there any way to keep file types preserved when transferring files? I am transfering files from a Unix computer to a Windows environment and back again, and any executable file is reverted to read/write only in these transfers. I am doing this to back up certain folders on the Unix machine, but if I have to write down, store, then restore the proper CHMOD number for each file then it might be a larger headache than it's worth.
So...the question is this - is SmartFTP changing it's file type, or is it Windows that is the culprit? Any help with this would be appreciated.
