A little confused...

I cant seem to get anything to work on my site:

My ftp is Xeraans.ds4a.com and I can upload to it just fine.
I made my site with yahoo site builder and uploaded all my files to /httpdocs (As another forum told me to do) and when I try to visit/test my site it goes to a missing page error (http://www.freewebsites.com/error404.html?404)

(And I am using smartFTP to upload it BTW)

Any help? I am completely new at this sort of stuff

Do I need to convert the FTP to HTTP? if so how?

You say that you can upload the files no problem and I'm assuming that you can list and see your files after you upload so what you have there is a not a problem with the ftp client.

There is no ftping or httping of files so don't worry about that, but http must have a certain file extension to be 'read' by your browser.

It sounds like either a problem with the index.html file name or the dir path for your files. So 1st reconfirm the file path that you are to upload to. 2nd ensure that the index file is titled index.html and not index.htm, etc.

The hosting must have had a problem with the site, I changed hosting with the exact same files and the exact same file names and I have a site.

But I do thank you for all of your help though.
