extracting zipfiles

hi im a begginer using the ftp progam and trying to extract files using smart ftp and i need somehelp

ok im trying to upload my website to my hosting company and it is in zip style format and i dont know how to extract the files

You can't do that with SmartFTP, you need a server that allows that and most of then don't allows extract files.

ok what do i need to extract zipfiles and how?

is there a free winzip file that will work

http://www.7-zip.org/ Allows to extract zip files and it's freeware.

thanx what about winzip does it also extract zipfiles? In the past ive tried to download a zipfile but it also gives an error msg saying the path is incorrect.

Yes it does, try getting the last Winzip build.
