CHMODing

I'm trying to install a php script giving the ability to add users to a site and user-areas of the site. the script is installed, but i am not able to login... my guess is that not everything is CHMODed correctly.

the script requires ALL folders and files to be chmoded at 777. but, when i chmod, the settings aren't saved. i'll chmod it to 777, goto the next directory, chmod those files, but when i go back to the previous directory, the files are no longer 777.

any thoughts?

thanks!

Same thing as me. The CHMOD changes aren't saved.

up pleaze :|

I would really like to know how to permanently set them!

Most of the windows servers don't allows to use chmod maybe your issue is that.

Hi
I would like to know if it is easy to set CHMOD settings in SmartFTP, and if this is a FTP specific thing (I currently use My Network Settings in Windows XP) and if I need a specific server (I use www.mycgiserver.com)
Thanks, All!

Right-click on a file and select CHMOD. (But if you wish to change the rights to a file in Windoze then I don't know an equivalent). CHMOD is pretty well universal in Unix and cleverer people than I can do stunning things with grep and piping filenames...
