resume vs. overwrite?

the site (pages) in question - www.virginiafalcons.com

problem - when i update said pages, i get a little "left over" html code at the bottom. it isn't there in my offline program (pagemill). i've noticed that it disappears depending on whether or not i resume or overwrite, but not always. can someone first explain the difference between the two? and then possibly tell me how to fix this as to not have it happen again?

when you hit the site, scroll to the bottom. that's where they typically appear.

thanks in advance.

You should be overwriting, not resuming.

so cowboy, did you fix the problem for me? because i don't notice the extra lines or html code at the bottom of some pages. thanks, if you did. providing that you have the time, could you explain why i overwrite and not resume when updating a page? (it's updated offline in pagemill, then uploaded again.) oh, and roughly how long does it take before i notice these said updates? a matter of seconds? a few minutes? longer?

thanks again if you had a hand at fixing my pages. i greatly appreciate it.

1. The weird characters was most likely due to the following:

2. Basically resume is used in situations such as when the file was partially uploaded, and you wish to continue uploading where it was left off at. This also pertains to downloads as well. But resume is only ever needed when the file is very big in size, and if your internet connection burps it will not start from 0 bytes again, but instead where you were left off at. Resume can also be used if you wish to stop the transfer and finish it later, from where you were left off at.

3. In your situation, you are using Pagemill to create your page offline. When it comes time to update the page online, you upload the page and when prompted on what to do, select the overwrite option. If SmartFTP had remote editing support, then things would be different, but for now this will be the best way of making changes to your page.

4. I couldn't really answer your question on how fast the changes are going to be live online.
But take a look at my response at the following thread:
