CHMODing Problems

I know how to CHMOD files but how do you CHMOD directories?

Right-click and select properties/CHMOD from the menu or left click and hit f7.

I know that but what if you need to CHMOD directories? It doesn't let you o that unless you go to misc. commands > CHMOD. But I dunno how to use that. I am trying to install Fusion News. HELP!!!!

I think I must be missing something here. The "misc. commands > CHMOD" is the same as right click and it's the same dialog whether its a file or a directory that has the focus. ...
