"Data connection" NOT connecting

SmartFTP has worked fine for me apart from the odd hiccup. Now for reasons best known to itself, its decided it will not connect to anything. It starts loading, accepts password and user name, then gets to connecting to data conection ascii (or words to that effect) and - nothing. It times out and closes. On every single ftp connection I have. I have tried Flash FXP, and bang, first time no problem. I have tried PASV mode, and active mode on all. Same thing. Any assistance will be gratefully appreciated.

NO-ONE has a clue ????????
Bit disappointed, people. Had a quite a bit of faith in you all.
Still, never mind. I am flying on FlashFXP anyway. So it doesnt really matter. I'll just uninstall Smart and continue with the Flashy prog.
