"Please insert a disk into drive A"

Dear friends:

Every time I launch SmartFTP (v. 1.0.979), I get the following error message:

"Please insert a disk into drive A".

Needless to say, there is NO diskette in drive A.

I also use CuteFTP. Never get this error message.

Any suggestions as to what could be causing this?

Thank you so much in advance.

I read the other posts regarding this issue. Problem just recently popped up for me too.

Is this an OS issue or does SmartFTP really need to access drive a: continuously on startup? @#%#!!

Maybe the development team can shed some light on the issue. Such as why this is happening, etc.

I have had a local browser open and maximized on my default download folder for about a year or more and never had this problem until now.

It's already stated in the Known Issues thread.

FYI: My default path download path is C:TmpDownloads. I created a new folder with an arbitrary name in C:Tmp and the problem went away. If i delete the newly created folder the problem returns.

Well, anyways, I needed to create another folder in C:Tmp anyways.

Hmmm... very odd. :?

To fix this problem open regedit delete the SmartFTP folders under hkey_CU/Software and hkey_LM/Software and rerun the install
