"update.ini" error message on Windows startup

I have greatly enjoyed using SmartFTP on my Toshiba Satellite 1555CDS laptop (running Windows ME with 64 MB of real RAM), and find it the best free program I have seen for Windows FTP transfers. However, since installing SmartFTP (and re-installing twice), I have been seeing an Error dialog (with a red circle and white X) every time I boot up and the Windows desktop appears. The message reads "Unable to obtain update from http:www.smartftp.com/update.ini." I have tried to use Registry Editor to find this glitch and failed. Can anyone advise me how to fix this?

Uninstall SmartFTP from the "Add or Remove SmartFTP Components".
Start > All Programs -> SmartFTP -> "Add or Remove SmartFTP Components".

You will then want to re-install SmartFTP, grab the Full Setup installer.
And a reboot is also recommended as well.
