Help Please on com1....com5 - lpt1 folders

Dumb question, but how do I get Smatrftp to go into com1...ets folders without giving me an error. Thanks in advance for help. :?

There folders are only found in hacked Unix FTP servers. Those names are reserved for for system use and as a result will cause problems. The only way to access them is to copy and paste a complete pathname into the FTP client, due to spaces and other special characters being used. If you don't have the original pathname, then you are out of luck.

Yeah, oops! I had Unix on the brain. Those are the names of devices that Windows uses, and are normally reserved.

The only way to erase theses folder is to go to the command prompt and type Dir /x to see short 8.3 filenames. Then you can erase then subdir by subdir.

Another way is to find the old winfile.exe, the file manager of Windows 3.1 which work even if it shows a warning in windows nt/xp/2000, actually he only knows and "sees" 8.3 names so you can directly remove recursively hacked path like ./ com1 / lpt1 / nul / etc ...
