Disabling Password Problem

hi there,

in my work i would like to disable my password, means i want
to connect to my bookmarks and then being asked for my password.
e.g. flash fxp has this feature, but i want to use smartFTP :-)

also it is not possible to disable the history...

does anyone know how to deal with this?

thanks!

When you add a site to your favorites, and if you leave the password field blank, then when you do
connect to this favorite site, you will be presented with a dialog asking you to input the password.

If you want to connect to a site from the "History" and wish for it to prompt you for a password as well, you then can
disable passwords from being saved. (Tools > Settings -> History) You also can disable the "History" from here as well.

hey lm,

thanks for your answer. you are right, the bookmarks are okay so far,
but even if i DISABLE the history AND set the number of max history items to 0 after restarting smartFTP the history is again in the settings and the top toolbar :-(

is it a bug (i updated to the latest version) or am i doing something wrong?

thanks

brilliant!

good work, despite this little thing smartFTP rocks!

If you've "Save History" disabled the history.dat is not written when SmartFTP is closed. It means the history.dat (existing) is not touched at all in this case.

If you want to delete your history, enable the "Save History" option and delete all history entries. Then close SmartFTP and restart it.

Now go to Settings->History and disable the "Save History" option if you no longer want to save the history.

If you want to save the history but not the passwords you need to enable the "Save History" option and disable the "Save Password" option.

I hope this answers your question. As far as I can see it's not a bug.
