not authorized to view my uploaded files

i dont know if this is a issue with smartFTP or my hosts, but after uploading my files, i am unable to view my webpage!!!

I own the domain, it said this before I loaded up the pages, I assumed taht after I loaded the page authorisation would be granted... (bearing in mind that there wasn;t anything there before i figured that was the reason for not having authorisation.)

has anyone else had this problem with their website? thanks

PS I SHOULD ADD THAT IT SAYS TO GO TO THE HOMEPAGE, HOWEVER IT WAS THE HOMEPAGE THAT I WAS TRYING TO VIEW!

CHMOD your files to 644 after their uploaded. See what happens then.

i'm a complete n00b.... while i know my way around a compute, i have no idea about the jargon... i'm the same in towns... i can know every inch of a place... but no idea of the street names.

what is CHMOD?

by the way though.... i DID manage to sort it out... when MS fri=ontpage saved it, it saved as index.htm not index.html.....

my NEW problem is working out how to create new pages within my site

but i'm sure I can figure it out in due course

Open front page. go to File > New > Page, click "Normal Page". You now have a new page within your front page web. Then simply create a hyperlink from one to the other.

yup did that, did that ....

i dont explain myslf very well, sorry....

i created the new page and uploaded it, typed in the url and it said page not found.

however tonight i just added some extra bits on that page and reuploaded it et voil
