Dumb question: exiting passive mode

To use some FTP servers, I cannot be in passive mode. I have not figured out how to turn this option off, can anyone help?

I think, by default, there is a PASV button on the toolbar. Make sure it's not selected.

Also: Tools > Settings > Connection > Select Port as your data connection.

You were trying to help me with my question titled "Compatibility." In seeing if there was a reply to my post, I saw this question/post and it interested me because of a conversation I had with a technical support person for my computer yesterday (to see what my problem was with SmartFTP). He asked me if there was a passive mode on the program. I wasn't sure, and didn't know where to find out. In reading your reply to weh_01's question, I was able to try that on my SmartFTP, and it is WORKING now!!! Thanks for the help... in a round about way.
