Problem that started with build .973

I recently (a few days ago) updated smartftp from build .970 to .973

Since this update, When I upload a text file from the local browser to the remote server, it sometimes works, and sometimes the system hangs.

other programs still work ok, mdm.exe is stuck in memory, and if I kill both mdm.exe and smartftp.exe I can re-launch smartftp and continue working.

This is quite bothersome, of course.

This has not happen before my upgrade.

There were no other system changes.

I work with a hebrew enabled windows NT workstation
This is the system information as listed in smartftp:

I just upgraded tonight and I've noticed that after 10-12 up/downloads the system will hang on me - I can force quit and restart but it's a drag - before upgrading it had been rock solid! I'll also try the developer build and let you know.

Keep up the most exxcellent work!

- M.

I tried the develop build but the same thing keeps happening. Can I get a copy of a previous build in an archive someplace?

Hello,

as far as I'm concerned,
no, it does not happen all the time, I would say 1/10

for the pervious .971 version : I saw a rel971.cab ... How shoud I install it ?

Bye.

Just extract the files from the CAB archive to your SmartFTP program directory (typically, c:program filessmartftp)

Well, I've been working with build .971 over the last few days..

The problem simply went away.

Please let me know if any need any more assistance to track down the problem.

I got the same problem with 973 as well as the dev build and switched back to 971 after reading this message thread.

I have the hunch that the problem happens after the upload when the application try to refresh the file list window. And that it happens when the number of files to be listed is high (say > 200). Yesterday I got an error message which referred to a window handle (hWnd) but I did not take any screen grabs at that time. When I continue it gave me "Dr Watson" and exited.

Hope this helps.
