I know nothing, help!

Hi all,

I'm really stuck with FTP. So could I ask the following questions?

1. I can upload my files but I don't know where to put them, any idea?

2. What kinds of files will FTP work with? I am just trying to upload a Word file and have that as my front page. Will this work?

3. Is FTP a program that will enable me to upload all of my content and display it on my domain? Does FTP create websites, or something else?

Any help with any of these questions would be great. I'm so confused!
