new user of smart ftp

I am totally new to this and am having trouble connecting to a remote server.
Not sure of what goes where in the form. I have tried to follow the tutorial but still getting - 530 authentication failed Connection failed. Any isea what I am doing wrong

Wrong username/password. Please contact your web hosting provider for the correct information, then go to the menu: File->New Remote Browser in SmartFTP.
