SmartFTP Won't Release Uploaded File

I use an HTML editor and SmartFTP. An issue arose with the latest upgrade. If I upload a file using SmartFTP and then go back and edit that file in the HTML editor, I can't save the file unless it is unselected in SmartFTP. I get an error that indicates the file is being used by another process. This did not happen with previous versions and is a nuisance. Any thoughts would help. Thanks.
