Upload Problems

I've been trying to upload files but haven't been able to do so. Everytime I've tried, it appears as if the file does get uploaded, because it shows the name of the file that has been uploaded but it also shows 0kb meaning that nothing got transferred. I don't know if its the firewall problem or not because I tried using SmartFTP with the firewall off as well.

Also I tried installing other FTP programs and they too are giving me the same problem. The files I try to upload do not get uploaded.

It's a problem with your software firewall (very likely) or the FTP server is blocking incoming data connections (not properly configured).

I am having the same problem too! Except what i did was delete everything in httpdocs. and then your page has like this apache thing. I think you drag the files into httpdocs. But i havent managed to do it yet!

Yes... Same problem here (I have also read Mumblymoo's duplicate message -- is it not better to keep this thread only?).

I am using NIS (Norton Internet Security) v.2006, but the upload of files via FTP does not work, whether with or without it being in use.
I get connected normally, can navigate between directories, list files, and even erase files -- so the connection seems to be normal. Only 'seems'.

The only impossible thing is *uploading*, whether via the Transfer Queue or directly.

I have been using SmartFTP since v.966, without *any* issue at all.
I formatted my HD last month for other problems, reloaded Win xp Home, etc. normally, and ended up with the installation of SmartFTP v.2.5.1006.26 (as previous ones, when installed display a message stating they are obsolete).

N.B..- I have the same difficulty with Filezilla, which makes me perplex: is it really an issue connected with SmartFTP or not?

I really hope that someone in the SmartFTP moderating team will read this thread and give an appropriate answer, since the issue seems to be well spread among users.

I had spent over fifteen hours trying everything, including allowing special port ranges, etc. -- to no avail.

I have now tried to use ACTIVE Mode (by releasing the 'PASV' button in the bar just over the Remote Window (last icon but one) and:

-- not only does it suddenly work;

-- but it works at such a high speed (just a few seconds for an 80k file) that at first I hardly believed it was possible.

The issue is therefore solved, but *not understood* -- I have to see things work 'as per magic' without understanding what is behind. If I found more, I would no doubt let you know!

i am having problems loading counter strike source maps to the server. i have uploaded them and its says the maps are pending and says there was an error uploading or the permission.

i have exacty the same problem,, however I am not so lucky "PROBLEM NOT SOLVED"
i have two computers both running WIn XP Pro. Both on the same network with the same WAN address. One is a laptop the other is a Desktop. Both have Smart FTP loded within two days of each other with exactly the smae settings.
Both would upload without a problem but suddenly the laptop will not. The uploaded file contains zero bytes. but the desktop uploads the file without a problem. Both have NIS and both have SFTP enabled but try as I may the laptop will not co-operate.
So what is going on?????????????????

I just had a flash of inspiration.......I am running NIS 2007. I went into the NIS tab , settings,,Personal firewall,,configure and unchecked "Automatically customise Internet Access for common programs" and bingo, it works.
Try this folks and see if you get the same result.
