how to get index file uploaded correctly

I just redesigned my website, and I am trying to get the new design to show up properly. I created another folder under the 'www' section for my archives. I moved all my files into that folder. Then I uploaded my new files, including my new 'index' file. My website is www.fireseanpayton.com. The correct index page doesn't show up there, but it does at: http://www.fireseanpayton.com/index.html. Obviously, I don't want my visitors to have to type in that entire string for it to show properly.

Does anyone know the solution to this?

I'm having the same problem as you. (i'm a newbe at this.) I clicked on your web link and it appears you may have resolved the issue. If so could you let me know what it was you did to get it working right? All I can get is a listing of my files right now.
