SmartFTP Installation Problems

When I try to start SmartFTP for the first time after installing, I get an error message "The SMARTFTP.EXE file is linked to missing export SHLWAPI.DLL:PathUnExpandEnvStringsW."

Install Internet Explorer 5.x or higher and make sure the unicows.dll is in the SmartFTP application directory. "

I have experienced the exact same problem BUT your "Fix" has not fixed it! What should I do now? Thanks in advance.

Do you have the latest version of Internet Explorer installed?

If not that's the cause of the problem.

In your fix you said to install Internet Explorer 5.x or higher. I am running Win 98SE and Internet Explorer version 5.00. I did not particularly want to install any later version of Internet Explorer. Any further help would be appreciated.

Is the unicows.dll file in your SmartFTP application directory?

If yes then IE 5.5 is required to run SmartFTP.

Yep, the unicows.dll file is in my SmartFTP application directory. I'll now need to reconsider whether to upgrade to IE 5.5. Your prompt replies to help me with my problem were very much appreciated.
