LastPass

Two steps are required to use LastPass with SmartFTP:

1. Add the password item in LastPass

If there is already a password item stored in the LastPass vault, this step can be skipped.

1. Login into the LastPass Vault
2. Add a new site
3. Enter the URL according to the Url mappings below.
4. Enter the Username
5. Enter the Password
6. Click Save

2. Select the LastPass credential provider in the Favorite:

1. Go to the favorite properties:
   Option A:
   Connect to an existing favorite.
   Go to the menu: Favorites - Favorite Properties
   Option B:
   Open a new connection: menu: File - Connection
   Click on the Properties button in the Quick Connect dialog
2. In the Login group, select LastPass in the the Provider selection box
3. To use an existing LastPass item, click on the ... button.
   If the LastPass password item contains no username, enter the Username of the site you want to connect to.
   Note: This and not your LastPass username.
4. Click OK to save the changes

3. LastPass global settings - Optional

1. In SmartFTP go to the main menu: File - Settings.
2. Go to the Credential Providers settings dialog
3. Select LastPass from the list and click on Properties
4. Click OK to save the changes

Notes

Shared Folders

For folders which are shared with you, the Show Password access privilege must be given otherwise the site will not be available to you.

Appendix

Url mapping

Amazon S3, Google Drive, OneDrive protocols are not supported.

How does SmartFTP find the LastPass site

Given a favorite, SmartFTP searches the LastPass password vault for a matching site. It uses several strategies:

Strategy: Item id

If a LastPass item id is specified in the favorite properties, then it will be used to locate the LastPass site entry. 

Strategy: Url

It uses the Url and Username property in the LastPass site entry to identify a corresponding site. The Url property must be set according to Url mapping.

Strategy: Favorite Id

It looks for a text form field in a LastPass site with the name SmartSoft.SmartFTP.FavoriteItem.Id and the favorite id (e.g. {D9F65CFA-D79D-4410-95D1-F7A395707330}) as the value.
