Suggestion: write to disk in larger blocks

I noticed that SmartFTP, when downloading a file, creates quite significant i/o activity on the disk. Filemon shows that it writes blocks 1300; when the download speed is high, this is noticeable when working with other applications at the same time. I understand that small blocks may be related to the accurate resuming, but still, I think, there might be an option for more "lazy writing".

Just as a note: on my Athlon XP 2200+, download at 1.5 MB/s (1.5 Megabytes per second) takes about 90% of the CPU...
